Muscle Spasm/Pain

Managing and Minimizing Muscle Contractions

Spasms are painful muscle contractions whose onset can be swift and unpredictable. Muscle spasms most often affect the calves, thighs, hands, arms, and feet. Muscle spasms range from twitches to painful bouts of tightening and can last 15 minutes or more. Such spasms happen to people of all ages, though some are more prone to them than others.

Treatments We Provide

Stretching and massaging the affected muscle are effective forms of treatment. Gentle use of the muscle, such as walking, also can help, as can the application of heat or ice or soaking in a warm bath. We can help you manage or prevent muscles spasms through manual therapy, joint and soft-tissue mobilization, or a prescribed exercise and stretching regimen.
