Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic Therapy

When Healing Comes in Waves

Offered at our Niagara Falls location, aquatic therapy–also known as water therapy or hydrotherapy–is done in a pool and uses water to help patients with a variety of medical conditions heal and enhance their performance in ways not possible outside a pool.

Water’s hydrostatic pressure, which exerts forces at right angles to the body, helps decrease swelling and makes patients more conscious of joint-positioning. The water relaxes muscles and increases blood flow to injured ligaments and other body parts.

Aquatic therapy can also help patients suffering from muscle spasms, fibromyalgia, or back pain by relaxing muscles and increasing blood flow. As with injuries, the hydrostatic pressure of water also helps, by relaxing the patient increasing joint-positioning awareness.
